Altenew July 2022 Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total Prizes)

Welcome to July’s Blog Hop for Altenew’s Monthly Subscriptions.

This release celebrates friendships with its charming images, flowers, and heartfelt sentiments. Show your bestie how much you care, or reach out to a long-lost buddy! We can’t wait to see how you use the products in this collection.

I hope you are having a marvelous time enjoying the designers’ projects. If you’re following along on the hop you’ve arrived from Agnieszka Malyszek’s blog. If you’d like to start at the beginning of the hop go to Altenew’s Blog.

Today I have 3 cards for you: one from Build-a-Garden: Tulips & Friends, one from Craft-A-Flower: Garden Rose and one from Craft Your Life Project Kit: Always Sunshine.

Build-A-Garden: Tulips and Friends

For this card I used Altenew’s Artists’ Watercolor 24 Pan set to paint the flower and used two of the sentiments in the set: “Thank You” and “Friend.” I mounted it on red cardstock to match the flower.

The next one is using Craft-A-Flower: Garden Rose die set.

Craft-A-Garden: Garden Rose

For this card I used the embossing folder that comes with Craft Your Life Project Kit: Always Sunshine to create a white, textured background for the Garden Rose die cuts. I decided to use vellum for the rose because it’s thinner than cardstock. I was afraid with the texture from the 3D embossing folder, plus the layers for the leaves and flowers, that my card would be too thick to go through the mail without extra postage. I used Red Sunset die inks to color the flowers and then used embossing ink and Translucent Pearl embossing powder to give the flowers some shine and sparkle. I’m afraid the photos don’t show the sparkle very well. I used one of the sentiments from the CYLPK: Always Shine and then cut it out using Altenew’s Featured Sentiments Die Set.

My last card is my favorite. This card has several layers and textures but very little bulk.

Craft Your Life Project Kit: Always Sunshine

Look closely and you can see white embossed script behind the Linear Crossroads die. I have an older rubber stamp that has, probably Latin, script on it. I stamped lightly on the card base and heat set with White Embossing powder. Then, I took the lightest shade from the Shades of Purple die inks and blended it over the white script to bring out the script just a little bit. It’s very faint on purpose. Next, I used the lightest color from the Sea Shore die inks to color white cardstock and cut out the Linear Crossroads die to use behind the flower. I stamped the large image from the set using Sea Shore, Northern Shore, and Shades of Purple die inks. I then die cut it out and placed in on the card.

What do you all think? Which on is your favorite?

Now for the fun stuff:

The vellum adds an interesting layer for the petals. Standard US first class mail can be 1/4 in thick and up to 1 oz. before it needs additional postage as long as it easily bends.

The white embossing is a cool idea. It’s subtle, but makes the flowers and leaves stand out.
