More Cards (of course)

What else do I do, but make cards. It’s my happy place. And now that I’m part of the Altenew Educators I’ve got lots to make. What fun. It’s a good thing I’m retired, because I don’t know how I’d get my ”assignments” done if I was still working. Anyway this is the last post before I go out to see my family. Sorta glad my husband stays home, because he can watch over our cat. Zipper’s 17 this year and that’s kinda old for a cat. I can’t post anything I’ve been making for Altenew, yet, because the product won’t be released until May. Maybe I’ll post a sneak peek when I get home from visiting family. But, that doesn’t mean I’m not making cards just for me for fun. Last week my good friend Sande Woodson, also an Altenew Educator, taught a class on using washi tape. If you haven’t had a change to take a class from her, she’s awesome. She showed 56 cards using washi tape in various ways. WOW. Her next class is on using alcohol markers, in May. Be on the look out for that. Today I’m showing a card using some washi tape I had on hand. The flower on the card is from Altenew but the washi tape is probably from Michaels, or some big box store.

For the next card, I used my very favorite stamp set from Altenew, Beautiful Day, and one of their 3d embossing folders, Pink Perfection Camellia. I stamped and colored the flower on white card stock and then embossed it. I then stamped and colored just the flower on another white cardstock scrap and cut out the center of the flower and adhered it using foam on top of the embossed piece to create a 3d effect for the flower. I added some black gems to the center of the flower and around the card. I also used purple washi tape around the edge of the card base and trimmed down the embossed piece to allow about an 1/8 inch to show around the edge. Let me know what you think. Often when I’m ”playing” in my studio I just experiment to see how things turn out. Some turn out better than others.
