Mission Inspiration – Altenew Academy Class

I think I say this for every class I take, “This is the best one yet!” Nicole Watt is the instructor and she is awesome. I am an experienced paper crafter yet I learn something from every class I take. My biggest problem is that I don’t think I have any original ideas. Or at least I don’t know how to get inspiration from things other than cards. She shows ways of getting inspiration from fashion design, color combos, and more. She really pushed me to experiment and look at everything around me for inspiration.

Here’s the card I created for this class.

I used Altenew’ 24 pan set of watercolors on Arches Hot Press watercolor paper. The base I used is a set of pearlized notecards I got from Office Max. I printed the sentiment on the notecard with my printer. I love the way it looked.

I did get inspiration from these two cards, but for the layout, not for the actual content of the card. I liked the way the focal point was down the left side and the sentiment was lower right.

Here is the inspiration for the colors in my card. I love the soft colors, especially the lavender and aqua. My twin cousins are turning 80. Here is the first card I made for one of them. I love it too, but the sentiment seems so big and clunky compared to the lavender card.

Your cards look so pretty! The lavender flowers look gorgeous. And that font does help! Its too bad the photo size is so small, I wanted to save it to feature it. Well done, Laurie!
