Beyond Basic Backgrounds: Altenew Academy

Today I took the Beyond Basic Backgrounds class. What great ideas they had. My favorite technique was bleaching with water using Distress Inks. I started by inking a background using distress inks on watercolor paper. Then, I took the small flower cluster from the Grateful Heart stamp set and stamped on the background using just water on the stamp, no ink. I used my MISTI because I had to stamp in the same place 3 or 4 times to achieve the amount of bleaching I desired. I stamped the entire background using this technique. Then I stamped the same flower cluster on a piece of 110 lb pale grey cardstock and colored the flowers using some metallic pens in similar colors to the back ground. I cut out the flower using the coordinating die and glued it to the background I made. I mounted all that on some black cardstock before adding it to my card base.

I used the Best Sentiments mini stamp set for the sentiment.
