Building a Scene with Stamps

This class was a challenge for me because I didn’t think I had any stamps that I could build a scene with. However the instructor of this class did show an example with the Vintage Flowers stamp and die set which I own. So I tried to think of a way to have the tree off the page and just the branch showing. I also wanted to do some watercoloring and create a background. We’ve got a Nor’Easter brewing here in New England so I thought this winter scene would be perfect. I used Altenew’s 24 pan set of watercolors to create the background. I wanted it to look kind of dark with a little bit of sun starting to shine through and snow on the ground. Once I finished watercoloring I let it completely dry and then stamped the branch from Vintage Flowers with black to create a silhouette. I then used a black micron pen to add some more branches. I drew in some berries and colored them in using a very dark red. Finally I took a white Gelly Roll pen to add some snow on the branches and highlights on the berries. I liked the way it looked and didn’t want to put a sentiment on the front. Now it looks like a little piece of art work.
