I Am The Diva Challenge #334, and more
Boy did I have a busy day yesterday. Started out with a visit to the vet. Zipper, my cat, needed her rabbies shot. Next I have an appointment with the retina specialist. In a previous post I talked about how my right I had some vision problems due to the vitriol gel in my eye pulling away from the Retina. Well a few weeks ago it happened to my left eye also. I needed to go and make sure that it wasn’t a retina detachment or tear. Fortunately the retina of my eyes are excellent even though there are large floaters in both eyes now. I feel like I’m living in a fishbowl looking through seaweed. However there is a great chance that the floaters will eventually settle down below my vision and I will be able to see just fine again. With my glasses on my vision is 2020. So that’s good it’s just hard looking through all the floaters.
My next stop was a visit to a coworkers house. She lives out in the country and rents a room in a farmhouse. She has two great Dane dogs and she loves where she lives because the dogs have the farm to run around in. She’s also a firefighter and EMT for the town she lives in, Princeton Massachusetts. So I got a tour of the fire station. I got to actually get in a firetruck as well as an ambulance. I’m about the same height as her so she let me try on her firefighter gear.
From there we went to a horse farm to clean out stables and feed the horses and I got to ride one. When I was a kid my aunt and uncle owned a large farm. They didn’t have horses they had chickens and cows. But I enjoyed being in the country. So I had a lot of fun yesterday. Cleaning out the horse stalls was kind of like standing in a giant litter box scooping out poop. Not something I’d like to do on a daily basis but it was fun to help my friend out.
While I was at the eye doctors yesterday it was a long wait so I started drawing on my iPad. I have the new 10.5 inch iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil. I use a program called Procreate to draw and last week there was a major update to both the iPad operating system as well as Procreate. The smudge tool, or what I refer to as a blending tool has been greatly improved. So for this week’s Diva a challenge I actually drew on the iPad and not with real pencil and paper. Normally I would never do Zentangle digitally but that’s what I started while waiting at the eye doctor so I figured I’d finish there. Procreate with the Apple Pencil is absolutely awesome to draw with. The range of brushes available is pretty awesome too and there are hundreds of brushes available on the Internet that you can purchase and download too.
I’d be curious if anybody else out there is using Procreate to draw with. Not necessarily just Zentangle things but drawing in general. Let me know and happy tangling.

September 27, 2017 at 5:53 pmIt’s amazing that you did your composition on an Ipad. If you didn’t tell us it was digital, I never would have guessed—except to think you have a very steady hand. I’m really impressed you were able to do this through floaters. When my eyes get wonky, I have trouble doing anything that requires visual acuity and a good field. I admire people who can adapt and move forward. I’m working on that.
